The origin of today’s Highland Games originates back to the eleventh century. King Malcom III ordered men to race up a mountainside with the aim of finding the fastest runner to serve as his messenger. There were events where men were tested in skills, strength and bravery. Musicians and dancers also displayed their skill and talents as a credit to the clan they represented.
